Family Foundations has successfully operated as a United Way agency for over 50 years.
We are proud of our record of meeting and exceeding our program objectives.
Our organization is accredited by the Council on Accreditation. This voluntary accreditation
process assures that we have met a set of nationally established requirements which ensure
quality service. Our accreditation provides assurance that the agency is delivering services
the community needs, conducts its operations effectively and manages its funds wisely.
We are a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.
Founded in 1951, the
National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), through its member agencies,
sets the
national standard for quality credit counseling, debt reduction services, and financial
literacy training. As the nation's largest and longest serving nonprofit credit counseling
organization, NFCC has played the key role in providing financial counseling and education
to consumers for more than 50 years. NFCC members must be nonprofit, mission-driven and
community-based.
Family Foundations is a certified housing counseling agency through the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development. With this certification, we can delivery pre- and post-purchase
housing counseling and education so that potential homeowners are well prepared to purchase a
house they desire and can afford. We are also able to deliver foreclosure counseling
intervention services, including working with lenders on loan modifications, to assist
homeowners who find themselves unable to make their mortgage payments. We have counselors
certified to provide Reverse Mortgage Counseling for seniors who are considering this
mortgage option.
Family Foundations is also approved to deliver pre-bankruptcy counseling so that families
receive all necessary information and options prior to filing for bankruptcy and
post-bankruptcy education so that families can get their lives back on track after filing
bankruptcy through our approval by the Executive Office of the U.S. Trustees.
We are a member agency of the Alliance for Children and Families. Through its more than 350
member agencies, the Alliance strengthens the capacity of our sector to serve children and
families with the highest quality service.
Family Foundations has invested heavily in our capacity to operate under tight fiscal management
guidelines and reporting. We report our fiscal results monthly to our
Board Finance and Investment Committee
comprised of volunteer professionals with legal and financial expertise. Our Board has
a separate Audit Committee to oversee our annual audit. This separation of Finance and Audit functions
ensures that our practices meet the highest possible standards. Our financial results are audited
annually by an independent CPA firm. The auditors report back directly to our Board to ensure
that our staff work is correct and thorough. Family Foundations has worked diligently to continuously
improve our fiscal management processes.
Family Foundations is also proud of the results of our investments in client record keeping.
Our professional associations require us to maintain strict standards with regard to client information.
Our client information is stored in the
DMS Professional Suite System from Cooperative Processing Resources.
This system is used by hundreds of firms across the nation and meets all quality standards.
In addition to our software system, client records are systematically reviewed for
Component and Utilization Review Standards. Component Reviews ensure that each client file contains all appropriate
information on services provided. This process ensures that each counselor is documenting client
information correctly and completely. Utilization Standard Reviews ensure that clients are receiving
appropriate services. The Utilization Reviews analyzes the client's situation, the services rendered
and confirms that the services provided met the client's need.
