This course will help you understand the homebuying process, decide how much you
can realistically afford, develop your budget for all the costs of owning a home,
prepare your credit for homeownership, develop a savings plan for your down payment
and decide what kind of mortgage is right for you. Our course is approved
by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for First Time Homebuyer
education.
Family Foundations is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
as a comprehensive housing counseling agency. We are a member of the
National Foundation for Credit Counseling, whose member agencies are accredited
and offer comprehensive counseling by certified counselors.
Additional Services Include:
Pre-Purchase Housing Counseling
Learn the basics of the homebuying process in a private session with a certified
housing counselor. Your counselor will help you develop a monthly budget
to help you plan for household expenses, improvements and those “unexpected”
bills that may arise.
Post-Purchase Counseling
Now that you’ve bought your home and moved in, we want to prevent financial
problems with your home. Our post-purchase counseling sessions include
updating your budget with new housing costs, relations with lenders, how to use
escrow funds, how to maintain and improve your home and how to avoid foreclosure.
