Individual Development Accounts (IDAs)
are matched savings accounts that enable low-income American families
to save money to build assets. These accounts reward the monthly savings
of working-poor families who are building towards purchasing an asset
- purchasing their first home, paying for post-secondary education,
or starting a small business. Savings are matched $2 for every $1 saved.
Family Foundations IDA program includes education on budgeting,
saving and one-on-one counseling. Your money is matched to make it easier
for you to save enough to buy an asset, such as a house or business.
While a paycheck will pay for food, clothing and monthly bills, an asset
provides financial security for the future. Family Foundations has received
a grant from the federal government and contributions from local donors.
